Exciting News!
We are absolutely thrilled to share with everyone that Esme from Year 5 has been shortlisted for the Northern region Young Poet Laureate competition! Along with several other children from Burnley Road, she entered a poem into the competition. Despite the competition being open to all KS2 children across the north of England, her poem impressed the judges enough to make it to the final 20!
As a shortlisted candidate, Esme gets to attend a full day masterclass at Leeds University along with the other shortlisted candidates. They will work with professional poets to refine their skills, perform their final piece in front of an audience and a judging panel, and receive a goody bag and signed certificate from the UK Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage!
